Para-anisidine is a reagent that reacts with aldehydes to give products that absorb at 350 nm (Fig. 7.5). The p-anisidine value is defined as the absorbance of a solution resulting from the reaction of 1g fat in isooctane solution (100 ml) with p-anisidine (0.25% in glacial acetic acid).

Red litmus paper is a base indicator. It turns blue at 8.1 pH and higher. While not a measure of pH levels, it's a quick and accurate way to determine if a solution is alkaline.

Malachite green also is used as a direct dye for silk, wool, jute, and leather and to dye cotton that has been mordanted with tannin. Methyl Violet 10B powder dye is intended for routine staining according to Gram, for staining bacterial components and for staining amyloids.     The main use of methyl violet is to dye textiles purple and give deep violet and blue colors in paints and printing ink. Methyl violet 2B (simply called methyl violet) is used in chemistry as a pH indicator. Methyl violets are mixtures of tetramethyl, pentamethyl and hexamethyl pararosanilins.

N,N′-Methylenebisacrylamide (MBAm or MBAA)[1] is a cross-linking agent[2] used during the formation of polymers such as polyacrylamide. Its molecular formula is C7H10N2O2. Bisacrylamide is used in biochemistry as it is one of the compounds of the polyacrylamide gel (used for SDS-PAGE). 

N,N′-Dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (DCC or DCCD) is an organic compound with the chemical formula (C6H11N)2C. It is a waxy white solid with a sweet odor. Its primary use is to couple amino acids during artificial peptide synthesis. The low melting point of this material allows it to be melted for easy handling.
