Barium Chloride – Properties, Uses & Industrial Applications
Barium Chloride (BaCl₂) is a water-soluble inorganic barium salt supplied in anhydrous and hydrated forms. It is generally available as a white crystalline solid and has a molecular weight of 208.23 g/mol in its anhydrous form.
Barium Chloride is an important industrial chemical and laboratory reagent, particularly valued for its ability to react with sulfate ions and form insoluble Barium Sulfate (BaSO₄).
Barium Chloride is the inorganic compound with the formula BaCl2. It is one of the most common water-soluble salts of barium. Like other barium salts, it is toxic and imparts a yellow-green coloration to a flame. It is also hygroscopic.
