RXSOL Reverse Demulsifier is used for breaking oil in water emulsions. It is a powerful flocculant to clarify oily water from produced water. It is water soluble and effectively cleans the produced water from oil. It can be also used for Produced Water from Separators, Tanks, Inert Gas Floatation Unit, Free Water Separators etc. It is an efficient flocculating agent and increases the Floc Size of previously flocculated suspensions. A greater Floc promotes faster settling and improves the filtration rate.
Designed to reduce suspended solids in raw and wastewater. It will also reduce the need for inorganic coagulants such as alum or iron salts. It can also reduce or eliminate the need for post pH Adjustment since it does not affect the pH of the water.
Recommended dosage 1 – 20 ppm continuous injection at the wellhead based upon water production and the degree of emulsification.
Description
RXSOL Reverse Demulsifier is a proprietary blend of specially selected surfactants designed for efficient separation and release of emulsified crude oil from the water phase. It is a fast-acting reverse demulsifier that promotes rapid oil-water separation, liberating dispersed oil droplets and producing a significantly clearer water phase.
The product is particularly effective in oilfield produced-water treatment systems where residual or emulsified oil must be removed before disposal, reinjection or further treatment. Its flocculating action helps combine fine oil droplets and suspended particles into larger flocs, improving separation, settling and filtration efficiency.
Note: Water soluble, fast acting, non-flammable and highly effective for treatment of high water-cut oil-in-water emulsions.
Advantages
- Fast acting separation of emulsified crude oil from water.
- Highly effective for high water-cut oil-in-water emulsions.
- Improves clarity of produced water.
- Promotes formation of larger oil and suspended-solid flocs.
- Improves settling and flotation efficiency.
- Enhances downstream filtration performance.
- Water soluble and easy to dose into produced-water systems.
- Suitable for continuous chemical injection systems.
- Effective over a comparatively low dosage range.
- Non-flammable under normal handling conditions.
Fields of Application
RXSOL Reverse Demulsifier is specially developed for breaking oil-in-water emulsions and clarification of oily produced water. It functions as an efficient flocculating and coalescing agent, promoting agglomeration of small dispersed oil droplets into larger droplets or flocs that can be more easily separated from the aqueous phase.
The product is suitable for treatment of produced water originating from oil and gas production facilities and can be applied in systems including separators, production tanks, free water separators, flotation units and other oily-water treatment equipment.
Typical applications include produced-water treatment at wellheads, separators, tanks, Inert Gas Flotation units, Free Water Separators and associated clarification or filtration systems. It can also be used to increase the floc size of previously flocculated suspensions, resulting in faster settling and improved filtration rates.
Method of Use
- Determine the degree of oil-in-water emulsification and produced-water flow rate before establishing the treatment dosage.
- Inject the product continuously into the produced-water stream at a point that provides adequate mixing and sufficient contact time before separation.
- For wellhead application, continuous injection may be made directly into the production stream depending upon system configuration.
- Where used before flotation or separation equipment, ensure uniform dispersion of the chemical throughout the water phase.
- Adjust dosage according to inlet oil content, water production, emulsion stability and required outlet-water quality.
- For optimum treatment, field bottle testing or jar testing is recommended to establish the most economical dosage.
Dosage
| Application | Recommended Dosage | Method |
|---|---|---|
| Produced Water / Wellhead Treatment | 1 - 20 ppm | Continuous Injection |
| Separators / Production Tanks | 1 - 20 ppm | Continuous or Controlled Injection |
| Flotation / Free Water Separation Systems | 1 - 20 ppm | Inject Upstream of Separation Equipment |
The exact dosage depends upon water production, inlet oil concentration, degree of emulsification, temperature, retention time and required treated-water quality. Laboratory or field testing is recommended for dosage optimization.

Handling
Handle in accordance with normal industrial chemical handling procedures. The use of suitable rubber or chemical-resistant gloves and protective eyewear is recommended. Avoid unnecessary contact with skin and eyes.
Adequate ventilation should be maintained during handling and application. The product is considered non-flammable under normal conditions of use.
In case of accidental spillage, contain the material using suitable commercial absorbents and clean the affected area using standard industrial clean-up procedures. Dispose of collected material in accordance with applicable local regulations.
Store in tightly closed original containers in a cool, dry and well-ventilated area. Protect from extreme temperatures and contamination.
