HYDROFLUOSILICIC ACID is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula H2SiF6. Aqueous solutions of Hydrofluosilicic acid consist of salts of the cation and hexafluoro silicate anion.

Hydrofluosilicic acid is a by-product of the process where phosphoric rock is treated with sulfuric acid to produce fertilizer.
The resulting hydrogen fluoride and silicon tetrafluoride gases are captured and scrubbed with water to form the acid.

Organic Synthesis: It can be a reagent for cleaving Si-O bonds in organic chemistry.
