Ammonium Bifluoride Technical Grade ABF dealer, supplier in Mumbai, Kandla, Chennai, Kolkata, Visakhapatnam, Dubai, Sharjah, Abudhabi, Fujairah, Muscat Barka, Sohar, Oman, UAE Middle East, Canada

Difference between HF and ABF uses.

HF 70% acid Handling is very dificult also makes hole in glove finger tips. While ABF never had a burn with solid ABF, however avoid to use by bare hands. If comes in contace quickly rinse with free flowing water. Always handle ABF with care and wear eye and skin glove protection during mixing or using, and never handle ABF with your bare hands.

Handling Procedure of ABF and HF
Calcium gluconate gel is helpfull cream to protect from HF / ABF burns to the skin. On contact immediately flush the contact part with cupious amount of water and applying calcium gluconate gel followed by immediate medical attention.

USES of ABF :
As a Aluminum brightener use 28% (wt) ammonium bifluoride to 72% (wt) water.
To Etch  Glass use 1 Kilo ammonium bifluoride and 2 liters sulfuric acid in  3 gallons water bath.

MUSCAT CHEMICAL TAG::

Ammonium Bifluoride is a white crystalline solid. It is soluble in water. It is noncombustible. It is corrosive to aluminum. It is used in chemical analysis, in brewing, and as a preservative for wood.

Remarks

Ammonium bifluoride is a white crystal salt chemically when ammonium bifluoride comes in contact with water resulting with the formation of HF.  It is used to brighten aluminum and other metals.

Analysis

Appearance : White crystalline solid (Orthorhombic crystals)

NH4HF2 :  98.76%*
(NH4)2SO4 : 0.05%
(NH4)2SiF6  :0.20%

Solubility in water  : 60.2 g at 20°C and 156.4g at 60°C per 100ml of water
Solubility in HCl  :  10% (w/v) sample is soluble in 15% (w/w) of HCl at 25°C

*Assay: Weigh accurately about 1.0gm of Ammonium bi fluoride sample. Dissolve it in 100ml distilled water. Titrate with about 1N NaOH. Use Phenolphthalein as indicator. End point is Colourless to Pink.

% acidity as HF =  A / B

1st calculate Consumption of NaOH, B.R. X  Normality of NaOH X  0.02 X 100  = A
Then Divided the result with " Weight of the sample "   = B

%NH4HF= %acidityasHFx57 /  20

Ammonium Bifluoride successfully replaces the traditional, but a dangerous and aggressive material - hydrofluoric acid, which is very aggressive, corrodes many materials, causing severe burns, releases harmful to breathe fumes. Ammonium bifluoride use instead of hydrofluoric acid is safer for use, storage and transportation and is less harmful, and reduce your costs by 10 - 15%.

Glazier:
Matt drawing on glass can be obtained chemically. For this glass coated with a thin layer of wax. Prepared in advance figure is placed on the reverse side of the glass to the light, and the blunt end of the needle scratched necessary in paraffin sections. Then, using clay to make the glass cell and poured back etching solutions based on ammonium bifluoride.
Ammonium bifluoride use instead of hydrofluoric acid greatly simplifies the processing of glass, making it safer and less harmful, and reduce your costs by 10 - 15%.

Petroleum:
In oil extraction method has been successfully applied acidizing bottom-hole, you can restore and improve the filtration characteristics, dissolve and loosen deposits in the well and increase the permeability layer zones and thus debit wells.
Usually for cooking acidic mixture used technical Hydrofluoric acid. When you replace it on ammonium bifluoride savings of 10-15%. For comparison, if the acid used in the working mixture of hydrofluoric acid (45%), it would take 1.55 times more than if we use a dry ammonium bifluoride.

SPILLS AND EMERGENCIES

If Ammonium Bifluoride in solution is spilled or leaked, or solid Ammonium Bifluoride is spilled, take the following steps:

*Evacuate persons not wearing protective equipment from area of spill or leak until clean-up is complete.
*Absorb liquids in vermiculite, dry sand, earth, or a similar material and deposit in sealed containers.
*Collect powdered material in the most convenient and safe manner and deposit in sealed containers.
*Ventilate and wash area after clean-up is complete.
*It may be necessary to contain and dispose of Ammonium Bifluoride as a HAZARDOUS WASTE. Contact your state Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) or your regional office of the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for specific recommendations.
*If employees are required to clean-up spills, they must be properly trained and equipped. OSHA 1910.120(q) may be applicable.

HANDLING AND STORAGE

*Prior to working with Ammonium Bifluoride you should be trained on its proper handling and storage.
*Ammonium Bifluoride will react with WATER to form corrosive Hydrogen Fluoride
*Ammonium Bifluoride is not compatible with ALKALIES.
*Keep in plastic, rubber or paraffined containers because it easily etches glass and will attack cement and most metals.
*Sources of ignition, such as smoking and open flames, are prohibited where Ammonium Bifluoride is used, handled, or stored in a manner that could create a potential fire or explosion hazard.

Eye Contact
*Immediately flush with large amounts of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting upper and lower lids. Seek medical attention immediately.

Skin Contact
*Quickly remove contaminated clothing. Immediately wash area with large amounts of soap and water. Seek medical attention immediately.

Breathing
*Remove the person from exposure.
*Begin rescue breathing (using universal precautions) if breathing has stopped and CPR if heart action has stopped.
*Transfer promptly to a medical facility.
