May-Grünwald solution (Eosin – methylene blue solution) is used with Giemsa stain for histological staining of blood cells.

Note

Used in hematology, May Grünwald staining allows the differentiation of different blood cells. Thus, it allows to reveal erythrocytes, basophils, eosinophils, polymorphonuclears, lymphocytes and platelets. May Grünwald's solution stains the acidophilic elements and neutrophilic granulates of leukocytes.

Application. May-Grünwald solution (Eosin – methylene blue solution) is used with Giemsa stain for histological staining of blood cells. May-Grunwald solution is used in May-Grünwald Giemsa's method for differential staining of medullary and blood smears.

May-Grunwald-Giemsa staining method is used for morphological inspection and differential counting of blood cells. May-Grünwald staining combines the effect of acidic eosin and alkaline methylene blue. Giemsa staining makes effect of azure. This staining stains all cellular components.
