Stannic Chloride, Hydrated is a white or yellow solid. It is used for dyeing textiles, in perfumes, as a bleaching agent, and in soaps.

Note

Air and moisture sensitive. Keep the container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place. Incompatible with alkyl nitrates, ethylene oxide, potassium and humid air. Reacts violently with water.

Tin(IV) chloride hydrate is used in the formation of a xerogel via a cyanogel, a gel that has potential use in solid-state gas sensors. It is involved in the preparation of Indium tin oxide thin films by chemical vapor deposition method.
