USES
- Lubricant oil additives: MIBC is used to make zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP), an additive that helps prevent corrosion and wear.
- Frother in mining: MIBC is used as a frother in mineral flotation to separate valuable minerals from waste.
- Coating solvent: MIBC is used as a solvent in nitrocellulose and hot spray lacquers.
- Pharmaceuticals: MIBC is used as a solvent for pharmaceuticals.
- Talc processing: MIBC is used in talc processing.
- Surfactants: MIBC is used as a solvent for surfactants.
- Ethyl cellulose, urea formaldehyde, and alkyd resins: MIBC is used as a solvent for these substances.
- Plasticizers: MIBC is used as a raw material to make methyl amyl seba cate and methyl amyl phthalate, which are used as plasticizers.
