Colour change 
The color change of a pH indicator is caused by the dissociation of the H+ ion from the indicator itself. Recall that pH indicators are not only natural dyes but also weak acids. The dissociation of the weak acid indicator causes the solution to change color.

Methyl Orange is the red, weak acid which dissociates in water forming orange neutral molecules.

Methyl orange is a pH indicator frequently used in titration because of its clear and distinct color variance at different pH values. Methyl orange shows red color in acidic medium and yellow color in basic medium.
