Acetone, or propanone, is an organic compound with the formula (CH3)2CO. It is the simplest and smallest ketone. It is a colourless, highly volatile and flammable liquid with a characteristic pungent odour.Acetone is mainly used in industry as a solvent for explosives, plastics, rubber, fibers, tanning, oil, paint and other industries, but also as an important raw material for the synthesis of enone, acetic anhydride, iodoform, polyisoprene rubber, methyl methacrylate, chloroform, epoxy resin and other materials.Also often illegal elements do drugs of raw material bromophenylacetone.
Acetone is a good solvent for many plastics and some synthetic fibers. Precautions:
Closed operation, fully sealed. Operators must be specially trained and strictly abide by the operating procedures. It is suggested that operators should wear filter type gas mask (half mask), safety glasses, anti-static work clothes and rubber oil resistant gloves. Keep away from fire and heat source. No smoking in the workplace. Use explosion-proof ventilation system and equipment. Prevent vapor leakage into the workplace air. Avoid contact with oxidant, reducing agent and alkali. When filling, the flow rate should be controlled, and there should be grounding device to prevent the accumulation of static electricity. When carrying, it should be loaded and unloaded lightly to prevent the package and container from being damaged. Fire fighting equipment of corresponding variety and quantity and leakage emergency treatment equipment shall be provided. Empty containers may contain harmful substances.
