Cesium iodide is used as a beam splitter in Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometers. It is widely used as a scintillator in silicon photodiodes. It is utilized in calorimeters and detectors and also employed as phosphor in fluoroscopy equipments.
Hygroscopic. Store in a desiccator to avoid moisture. Incompatible with strong oxidizing agents, strong acids and bases.
