Cement remover for mixer truck drums, chutes and exteriors
A ready-mix truck cleaner has three jobs: the inside of the drum, the chutes and rear end where splash builds up, and the painted body. Chip off any deposit thicker than about 1/16 inch (1.5 mm) first. Then use the chemical on the thin layer next to paint or metal so you do not dent the surface.
Heavy-duty inhibited acid removers are typically mixed 1 part product to 3 to 4 parts water for the exterior, with stronger solutions on the chutes and rear end. Apply with a long-handled brush or mop, wait a few minutes, then flush with a hose or steam gun. To clean inside the drum without jackhammering, charge it with about 1 part acid concrete remover to 1 to 4 parts water. Revolve the drum for several minutes, inspect before draining and rinse thoroughly.
A typical restorative clean with a neutral drum wash for a truck mixer uses about 19 L of product with 95 L of water and about 2.3 t of aggregate, rotated for 90 minutes, then dumped and rinsed. Using cement remover safely in Oman's heat
In an Omani summer, a remover spread on hot steel in direct sun can dry before it has worked. Park the truck in shade, work in the early morning, treat small sections and re-apply before the film dries. Grades differ on surface preparation. RX Hold works best on dry cement, acidic masonry cleaners need a pre-wetted surface, and neutral drum washes go on a damp drum. Test a small area first, because some dissolvers lift paint along with the concrete.
Hydrochloric acid based removers cause severe eye and skin burns and their vapours severely irritate the respiratory tract.
